Duration:                             1 year (can be renewed subject to performance)

Duty station:                      Mogadishu-Somalia

Purpose:                              Finance operations of SOYDA

Organizational Context

SOYDA for Somalia is a national non profit, ethnic as well as religious based institution, SOYDA members are physician’s innovative instant association, their teams organize/implement numerous health projects that poor people and IDPs are contingent harmonize within the framework of SOYDA service deliver to support deprived migrants. SOYDA was created a group of local native health professionals and their aim was to help for a great humanitarian effort and the creation of successful projects that can lead a progress to the life of Somali communities SOYDA provides a forum for its members to communicate freely, to co-operate actively, to achieve consensus on high standards of medical ethics and professional competence, and to promote the professional freedom of physicians worldwide particularly in Somalia.

The purpose of the SOYDA is to serve humanity by endeavoring to achieve the highest international standards in Medical Education, Medical Science, Medical Art and Medical Ethics, and Health Care for all people living in Somalia.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To provide sound and professional technical advice relevant to the scope of the consultancy
  • To build organizational workflows and processes relevant to admin and finance functions of the directorate
  • Assist with the financial planning including the preparation of budgets and wherever possible financial forecasts
  • Establish effective accountability procedures to ensure that the designed financial procedures have built-in audit functions
  • Implement effective payroll and HR management procedures and policies
  • Follow Established procedures for effective financial and admin reporting for the SOYDA
  • To conduct any other work necessary to boost the capacity of the directorate to do its admin and finance function more effectively.
  • Manage cash controls as well as maintain book keeping up-to-date.
  • Ensure all expenses are within assigned project budget
  • Ensure that financial transactions are properly updated and recorded.
  • Manage the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, expense reports, etc.
  • Ensure data integrity in all financial reporting.

Competencies:

  • Evidence of strategic thinking and proven ability to organize, plan and prioritize work;
  • Strong design skills, drafting and reporting
  • Ability to develop themes undertaking research
  • Experience in performing services for international organizations
  • Excellent presentation skills and drafting ability essential;
  • Knowledge of the government institution context is an advantage;
  • Ability to work in a team and independently;
  • Ability to build proven capacity building skills.

Qualifications criteria

  • The officer should have at least a bachelor Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, economics or a related field, and should demonstrate relevant experience with similar technical assistance and capacity building initiatives
  • The officer should have the capacity and experience related to Admin and finance and ability to manage international donor projects and submit deliverables in time
  • The officer Should have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • The officer Should be fluent in both Somali and English languages; and have demonstrable proficiency in both written and spoken skills for the two languages
  • The officer Should have exceptional leadership and management skills
  • The officer Should be a strategic thinker with the ability to see the bigger picture
  • Should be able to work under pressure and have good time management skills and ability to multitask
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Languages:-

·         Excellent command of the Somali and English language is a must;
