Somali One is a nonprofit organization that strengthens and promotes peace, stability and democratic governance in Somalia. It is supported by international and Somali development experts. Somali One combines local knowledge and values with international expertise and principles to reach lasting solutions.

Somali One is implementing a Community Dialogue Project with funding from Somali Stability Fund (SSF) in Barawe, Somalia.

This position reports to Somali One Program Director.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Act as focal point for Community Dialogue project implementation in Barawe
  • Understand local context of the community living Barawe
  • Community conflict management
  • Media and outreach engagement. Reach to local media for wider outreach programs
  • Provide management and technical oversight of the existing Community Dialogue Project.
  • Closely work with Somalione team to develop and utilize specific technical for strategic development on Community Dialogue .
  • Support the project of the community dialogue strategy including integration of government, donor and partner strategies, capacity and need assessment and evaluation and developing innovative opportunities.
  • Oversee technical assistance and capacity strengthening activities in community dialogue programming for staff and stakeholders to enhance program quality and impact.
  • Contribute to maintaining relationship with donors and partners to share best practice and promote somalione’s work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in relevant field; Political science, development studies, Public administration, International relations.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in governance and Development program
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Somali language is a must and understanding of Chimini language will be added value.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principals and code of conduct is essential.
  • Posses’ ability to remain calm and professional when working under pressure.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, analytic and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in carrying out participatory field work, monitoring and reporting
  • Ability to work under time pressure, independently and with limited supervision.
