Somali Sudanese Specialized Hospital was established 2014 by Somali doctors and businessmen to cover the country’s health care demands at that moment and minimizing traveling to abroad for treatment. Currently the hospital has 15+ departments and more then 100 beds, it also has 200+ staffs including 10 Somalian doctors as well as 15 expatriate doctors working in the hospital.
Board of Directors
The Hospital has board of directors with the following objectives:
Provide entrepreneurial leadership of the Company within a framework of prudent and effective controls which enable risk to be assessed and managed.
Set the Company’s strategic aims, ensure that the necessary financial and human resources are in place for the company to meet its objectives, and review management performance.
Set the Company’s values and standards and ensure that its obligations to its Association Members and others are understood and met.
The Board as a whole is collectively responsible for promoting the success of the Company by directing the company’s affairs. The Board is looking for a consultant who will assist the Board how to constructively to challenge and help develop strategy, to participate actively in the decision-making process, and to scrutinize the performance of management in meeting agreed goals and objectives.
Key Responsibility of the Consultant
The role of the Consultant has the following key elements:
Strategy. The consultant should Develop the strategic plan and constructively challenge executive directors.
Performance. The consultant should scrutinise the performance of management in meeting agreed goals and objectives and monitor the reporting of performance.
Risk. The consultant should develop the risk management policy and should satisfy themselves on the integrity of financial information and that financial controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible.
In order to fulfil their role, The consultant will:
Meet the Board of Directors and top management at least four times a year.
Be entitled to seek independent professional advice, at the hospital’s expense, in the furtherance of their duties.
- Time Commitment
The Consultant is expected to be in Somalia at least four weeks in a year to attend the boards meeting and monitor the management performance. Also, it is expected the consultant to will do some reviews while outside Somalia.
The Consultant will be appointed for an initial term of two years. The term may be renewed if both parties agree.
- Independence and Confidentiality
The consultant is expected to uphold the highest standard of professionalism and to avoid any conflict of interest which may comprise his independence.
Also, the Consultant will be expected to sign the confidentiality agreement.
- Qualification and Experience
The consultant should have the following:
Master’s in Public health, Master in Medicine or Master in Business Administration.
Worked in Hospital Senior Management position for at least 10 years.
Participated in strategic setting and Implementation of health management system for a Hospital.
Fluent either in English or Arabic is mandatory. Somali Language will be an added advantage.
