Maternity Foundation is a non-governmental international organization (registration number 2086) whose secretariat is based in Copenhagen, Denmark since 2006 G.C. Maternity Foundation is working to reduce maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality in low and middle income countries with a vision of “No women should die giving life”. Maternity Foundation has been implementing different projects in Ethiopia since 2004 in Somali, Oromia and Gambella regions in different development and emergency interventions and supporting Ministry of Health at national level by revising training guidlines and providing capacity building trainings for health workers.
Maternity Foundation is seeking an experienced MCH and Nutrition Officer for the project which will be implemented by Maternity Foundation in collaboration with Ethio-Somali Mother and Children’s Association (EMCO) funded by NOVO Nordisk Foundation with a porject title Strengthening health system capacity to provide life-saving health services to crises-affected IDPs and host communities in Somali Region, Ethiopia. This project will help to create synergy with a current project that Maternity Foundation is implementing under UNFPA, at targeted health facilities in Fafan and Siti Zones. The project will capitalize on this existing engagement in the area and expand the focus by integrating Health, Nutrition and WASH in to a border multi sectoral health capacity strengthening intervention.
The MCH and Nutrition officer is responsible to plan, coordinate and execute the implementation of the overall project and mainly the MCH activities including but not limited to facilitating capacity building trainings such as IP, FGM, MISP, MAM, SAM & IMNCI. The MCH & Nutrition officer is responsible to participate in assessments, project mid & end term evaluation and provide reports on a monthly basis.
Plan and execute the project intervention in collaboration with the program manager and MCH Coordinator
Coordinate, facilitate and conduct trainings
Keep track of progress and compile monthly reports to Maternity Foundation MCH coordinator/maternal and digital health advisor
Participate in assessments and evaluations
Travel between health facilities and regions as needed
Liaise with technical steering groups for MNH response on-the-ground
Liaise with the head office and represent/ take part in national and regional technical working groups at regional health bureaus and development partners
Liaise with the project team at EMCO and and Maternity Foundation taskforce members/experts at the filed level
Ensures the timely implementation of the project activities

Contract: Fixed-term contract
Duration: One year
Skills and Experience needed:
MPH/related second degree with a background in Health and/or Nutrition
well experienced in managing and coordinating health related projects
Strong asset, if experience in NGO, working in humanitarian setting on RH and Nutrition
Experience with community health worker training
Experience with project planning and implementation
Ability to listen and speak Somali language is an added value
Competences: Dedicated and self-motivated, structured, able to work under challenging conditions, organizing and planning skills, adaptability, innovative and creative thinker/trainer, ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision and willing to travel frequently.
