Terms of Reference 

  1. Background

International Solidarity Foundation (ISF) has been working here in Somaliland since 2001. ISF works with local partners who does the implementationof the projects. Thematic areas of ISF interventions are Gender Based Violence (GBV) and livelihood. ISF has started new approach of mainstreaming GBV projects with livelihood projects. Therefore, there is a need to training ISF and its local partners to train on participatory training methods.The participatory training methodology will focus on their application to Awareness creation, Attitude change, Psychosocial training.

  1. Participatory Training Approach

Training will focus on improving partners’ staff members understanding and application of universal participatory approaches tools.

In addition to what ISF has already adopted, the training should cover other participatory approaches such as sharing of knowledge and experience, establishment of change agent teams,  recognizing and incorporating people of different perspectives, dram, open ended creative learning processes, formation of task teams for practical solutions, development of jointly own plans or products (livelihoods and gender awareness), and use visual and analytical tools (role plays, personal testimonies or case studies)

  1. The Objectives of Training

The main objective isto provide guidelines for ISF partner’s participants to analyze the participatory methodologies they are already using such as brainstorming, presentation, group discussions, examples and conversation as participating beneficiaries for the activities, and enable the participants to reflect on what is working well and what is not working well and recommend how they can be reinforced.

  1. Scope of work;
  • Help the participants to learn how to understand and influence the beneficiary’s attitudes and build their capacity on awareness of creation.
  • Train participants to use different kind of participatory methods in their field work.
  • Introducing the participants, the basic guideline for teamwork. Teaching them a technique that help to improves an individual’s performance in a team and prevent harm within a group.
  1. Timing and Duration of the Consultancy

The training expected to start on 18th – 23rd August 2018 in Hargeisa. The total days of the training and it is preparation is 10 days.

The consultant will come up detailed action plan based on the time
