Our focus is on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering the consequences of war and/or natural disasters. We possess long-standing expertise in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), but also implement projects in Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), as well as Nutrition and Education. PAH Mission in Somalia:

PAH has been present in Somalia since 2011. With WASH and Nutrition programs PAH supported people from the most vulnerable communities in different regions in Somalia. Our primary focus was to provide safe drinking water through rehabilitation water infrastructure, constructing water distribution systems, and constructing rain water reservoirs. In our work we also focus on other WASH components such as improvement of sanitary conditions, hygiene promotion to make our WASH interventions fully comprehensive. We are implementing ECHO projects targeting the most vulnerable IDP communities in Mogadishu and around as well as UNICEF WASH projects in rural communities and key community institutions in Banadir, Lower and Middle Shabelle.

PAH in Somalia is looking for a WASH ASSISTANT who will become the part of our WASH program team. The person will hold the following responsibilities:


  • Identify, assess, and respond to WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) needs among families residing in villages and IDP settlements.
  • Supervise the delivery, distribution, and implementation of (WASH) interventions in rural villages, IDP settlements and institutions
  • Educate people about key aspects of water and sanitation in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Ensure all work is carried out as per the community needs and project standards.
  • participates in the selection process of hygiene promoters, O&M personnel and other casual workers
  • Performs any other duty assigned by your immediate supervisor or line manager


  • Preparing payment schedules for the contractors & tracking their due payment
  • Receiving and reviewing office bills and contractors invoices, scan and send them to Mogadishu finance team payment process.
  • Ensure all supporting documents are attached with bills in line with support documents checklist and procurement policies
  • Carry out a systematic filing system if necessary and flow up transfer from Mogadishu
  • ensure advance settlements are done on timely manner with all payment receipts.


  • Maintains and oversee the flow of logistics documents as well as the storage in both hard copies and in google drive
  • Pre-qualification assessment in case of quotations
  • Distribute/ collect quotations Ensure Receipt books are safe and signed by the contractors
  • Ensures that contracts are properly signed, up-to-date, and remain in strict adherence to PAH/Donor internal policies, regulations and good practices

What PAH requires:

  • Diploma in WASH and health related fields
  • Minimum 1-year experience in WASH
  • Galmudug resident with good background knowledge of local context
  • Experience in community mobilization, training and use of participatory methodologies.
  • Readiness to travel including remote areas
  • advanced interpersonal skills
  • Proactive/solution focused.
  • advanced communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills/ability to cope with demands of emergency situations.
  • MS Office very good
  • Fluent Somali and at least good knowledge of English
  • Ability to work under time constrains in stressful environment.
