JOB TITLE: Child Safeguarding Intern
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Human Resource
TYPE OF CONTRACT:
CHILD SAFEGUARDING/PSEA; Level 3 – the role holder will have direct contact with children and/or young people either frequently and adult beneficiaries (e.g. Once a month or less) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
The Child Safeguarding Intern will carry out a various Child Safeguarding activities on a daily basis. The Child Safeguarding Intern roles and responsibilities include, filling Child Safeguarding documents and recording list of
SCI employees, partner’s employee in Child Safeguarding trainings as well as Child Safeguarding awareness sessions for our beneficiaries.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: National Child Safeguarding Manager based in Hargeisa Somaliland
Dimensions: Child Safeguarding system established in Save the Children Somalia/Somaliland offices (Country Office in Nairobi and three area offices (SL, CSS and Puntland) as well as 10 field offices with a current staff complement of approximately 450.
Staff directly reporting to this post: None.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Under the overall supervision and guidance of the National Child Safeguarding Manager based in Hargeisa office, the intern is expected to carry out the following activities :
Recording and documentation of SCI staff, partners, staff and beneficiaries training list in CSG trainings. Filling and updating CSG and Sexual Harassment trainings Data(SCI staff and partners)
Filling and updating Child Safeguarding trainings Data
Organizing Child Safeguarding induction for new staff and program visitors with the consultation of the Admin Officers
Facilitate and support program teams to incorporate CSG session into the program trainings, community mobilization
Organizing and taking meeting minutes of monthly Child Safeguarding meetings. Organizing Child Safeguarding trainings and inductions at SCI offices and partners And
Update the monthly staff list.
Draft Data Collectors Contracts
Support HR to include Child Safeguarding questions into candidate’s written examination and oral interviews
Make sure that shorted list candidates ‘receive Child Safeguarding policy .before interview
Preparing training material such as ; stationary, venue , projectors with consultation of administration staff

Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, procurement and logistics, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
Ensure that all work is carried out in a way that is sensitive to community needs and gender and children issues. In particular to promote the full and equal participation of women and children in all aspects of the work.
Within reason, implement additional actions and responsibilities, as requested by your line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
SAVE THE CHILDREN
Minimum high school or Diploma of qualification in social, Human Resource in recognized institutes or university.
Computer skills especially in Ms Excel, spread sheets, Ms Word.
High level of integrity and ability to work as part of a professional team
Ability and willingness to learn scale up skills in child rights, child protection and child safeguarding Good communication and interpersonal skills
Supportive personnel management style
Good command of English both written and spoken
Willingness to work in odd hours, go extra mile and travel in often difficult and insecure environments; Commitment to Save the Children values
