Sales Associate Program – Horn of Africa Insurance

About the Program:

  • 1 year program, with final placement upon successful completion
  • Geared to new and recent college graduates and open to people of all disciplines
  • Candidates take an aptitude test as part of the interview process
  • Gain exposure to all areas of the business by rotating through different departments
  • Gain access to technical training
  • Get paired with a mentor that can guide you in your career

Key Duties:

  • Daily field visits
  • Design and implement effective marketing strategies to sell new insurance contracts or adjust existing ones
  • Contact potential clients and create rapport by networking, cold calling, using referrals etc.
  • Collect information from clients on their risk profiles in order to offer them the proper solution
  • Set personal goals and strategies to achieve assigned sales targets

Key Competencies:

  • University graduate with excellent grades
  • Highly energetic
  • Eager to learn
  • Able to work without too much supervision – self starter
  • Able to work with staff, management and customers
  • Pleasant personality
  • Positive attitute
  • Strong work ethic
  • Able to work in a start-up environment and do multiple tasks at once
  • Persistent (not taking no for an answer)
  • Solution Oriented (not focusing on the problem but finding a solution)
  • Fluency in both English & Somali is a must. Other languages a plus.


  • Primarily Commission based
  • Base Salary
